The Kit Katcher has a forward-facing net pocket and a rearward-facing one (towards the paddler). Its primary purpose is to catch and hold spare paddle blades, preventing them from being lost. Breaking waves or tidal race conditions can wash gear back along the deck, and the net pockets are designed to catch and retain paddle blades before they go overboard.
